Linen. The timeless classic, soft and beautiful living material. One of the oldest textiles used by humans, named by the Ancient Egyptians 'Woven Moonlight' for its exquisite beauty.

If magic bedding exists, it must be made from linen fabric, heavenly cool in summer and warm in winter. Imagine crisp and breathable linen sheets on your bed that become more beautiful and softer with age. If cared for properly, linen bedding can last a lifetime as it is three times stronger than cotton.

Although linen bedding is more expensive than cotton, there are a few things you should consider that might impact your decision whether to get linen or cotton, and you might realise that linen sheets are worth a higher price.

Did you know that cotton is considered the world's dirtiest crop due to its heavy use of pesticides? Bugs love cotton, and cotton growers use 16% of the world's pesticides although it is grown on only 2.5% of the agricultural land. Unfortunately, cotton production has also strong links to child labour and multiple resources are explaining this problem in depth.

Compared to cotton, certified European linen is sustainable and eco-friendly. It is naturally resistant to bugs, requires no pesticides and minimal use of fertiliser.

Linen is not only strong and sustainable; it is also naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic, which in simple words means it doesn't let bacteria build up. Linen fibre is capable of absorbing large amounts of water in a very short time - up to a quarter of its own weight, allowing the skin to breathe and stay dry.

All these qualities contribute to comfortable and healthy sleep. For us, linen bedding is a winner - soft and gorgeous, good for our bodies and the planet too, so what's not to like?
